Jonathan Jesus N. Navea, also known as Jake Navea and Dr. Jake Navea, PhD,DD (born June 11, 1955, Quezon City, Philippines) is a Filipino civic leader, PR & Tri-media consultant and consumers welfare advocate who initiated Mother's Day and Father's Day in the Philippines in 1980 thru the Annual Huwarang Ina at Ama Awards, formerly Gintong Ina at Ama Awards (Outstanding Filipino Mothers and Fathers).
Navea lobbied for their official national proclamation eventually issued by the late Philippine President Corazon C. Aquino who issued Proclamation No. 266 declaring Mother's Day every second Sunday of May and Father's Day every third Sunday of June as national events for more than three decades, superseding the previous proclamation issued by the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos.〔()〕
One of the prominent past Gintong Ina awardees was retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Consuelo Ynares Santiago.〔()〕 Former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo is one of the respected awardees of the Gintong Ama for Public Service. Navea expanded the parental respect and tribute in other parts of Asia and the world through the Golden Mother and Father Awards, eventually spearheading the Grandparents & Senior Citizens Day every second Sunday of September and the Family Week Celebration every last week of September, proclaimed as national celebrations thru Presidential Proclamation No. 60 issued by former President Fidel V. Ramos.
The late Maria Ejercito, mother of former President Joseph Estrada, was conferred the Huwarang Ina Posthumous Award last May 10, 2009. One of Navea's noted Mother’s Day events was held last May 13, 2012 during the 32nd Huwarang Ina Awards which honored Caridad Tulfo, the mother of the popular Tulfo brothers, including broadcasters and journalists Mon Tulfo and Erwin Tulfo aired on major news channels nationwide, particularly on GMA 7.〔
Navea was also featured in the Manila Bulletin Father’s Day Celebration supplement commemorating the 32nd Huwarang Ama Awards dated June 17, 2012 as Founding Chairman of the National Mother's Day & Father's Day Council, National Consumer Affairs Foundation (NCAF) and the Huwarang Ina and Ama Awards honoring Outstanding Filipino and Asian Mothers and Fathers.
==Contributions to consumers rights==
Navea also initiated the Consumers Month Celebration in the Philippines in 1981, and eventually founded the prestigious Consumers Choice Awards, Consumers Quality Awards, Seal of Excellence Award and the Global Brand Award honoring outstanding consumer products and companies which have been serving the interests of the consumers. The consumer ceremonies headed by Navea are being held in the Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia and other parts of Asia Pacific Region.〔()〕 One of the largest consumers events was held last March 20, 2012 during the 32nd Consumers Choice and Seal of Excellence Awards jointly with Dangal ng Bayan and Gawad Musika Awards.
He further promoted the tribute to Outstanding Achievers in business, arts & entertainment, sports, public service, education, humanitarian service and other major professional fields worldwide thru the Asian Achiever Award, Dangal ng Bayan Award, formerly Parangal ng Bayan Award or the People's Choice Award, Global Achiever Award, Who's Who in the Philippines and Gawad Musika Awards, among others in his desire to motivate individuals to excel in their achievements thru public recognition and contribute to nation-building and world-class excellence. Asia's largest telco-independent Internet Communications Service Provider, Pacific Internet was awarded the prestigious Parangal ng Bayan Award as the Most Outstanding Internet Service Provider.〔()〕
He is the editor-publisher of Variety Newsmagazine and the President of Mediapower PR & Advertising and Asia Pacific Awards Council.
A publicist-writer and PR-business consultant of prominent personalities, Navea also became the editor of Pacific Chronicle, a weekly newspaper based in Saipan and Guam, USA and the Consumers Journal, a quarterly consumers magazine. He is an active officer and member of the Quezonian Lions Club International based in Quezon City, Philippines and International Lions Club based in Saipan, USA.
He is the founder and president of Dreamlife Opportunities Program, a consumers livelihood and business opportunities program being undertaken by Dreamlife Global Ventures and National Consumer Affairs Foundation (NCAF) aimed at motivating individuals, specially the youth, to be successful and self-reliant entrepreneurs.
